Honours Year Project

A fascination with beaches and the sea has influenced my fourth year work, specifically the changes the sea makes to manmade objects and how living organisms survive in such a vigorous and dangerous expanse of water. the living things grow and survive whereas the manmade objects decay and are gradually destroyed by the sea.
Collecting Objects from the beach brought about my initial research items, from these I could take shapes, colours, textures and forms. Using photography and drawing and by casting objects in plaster or pressing them into clay meant I made a direct reference to the intricate texture both of the manmade and natural objects.
